We support BHP’s decarbonisation journey in Western Australia
Construction of the Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1 is now well underway. Installation of the 18 wind turbines is ongoing, commissioning of turbines will commence in the coming months and the project is expected to be fully operational in early 2024.
In early 2022, Enel Green Power (now Potentia Energy) and BHP signed a 12-year Power Purchase Agreement for 100% of the energy produced at Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1. Our CEO, Werther Esposito, welcomed the BHP Nickel West team recently to tour construction progress on the wind farm site.
“We’re incredibly pleased to host team members at the Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1 project site. We recognise the shared vision and commitment between Enel Green Power (now Potentia Energy) and BHP that has driven the Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1 project forward. We are immensely grateful for the support and look forward to the journey ahead, as we progress towards full operations of the project.” Werther said.
As part of the local tour, representatives had the opportunity to visit the Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1 Community Information Centre, established in Kojonup, the closest local town to the project site.
“Through our Creating Shared Value approach, our team are focused on ensuring proactive engagement and benefit sharing for the local community throughout the project’s construction and operational phases.”
“This year we launched the annual Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1 Community Fund, intended to support local initiatives that make a positive and enduring contribution to the local community. The Community Fund will provide more than $2.25 million of funding into the local Kojonup and Broomehill Tambellup communities throughout the life of the wind farm project.”
“We’re pleased to be working hand in hand with our major project partners, like BHP, to ensure the project has ongoing benefits for the local community.” said Werther.
