Our Story
Enel Green Power made its impactful entrance into the Australian market in 2017 with the acquisition of the Bungala Solar Farm, one of the largest solar farms in the country at the time. Building on this foundation, the company developed a significant portfolio of wind, solar, storage, and hybrid projects across Australia. At the same time, it expanded into innovative solutions within retail and trading, showcasing its commitment to accelerating Australia’s energy transition.
In late 2023, a new chapter began as Enel Green Power and INPEX joined forces to co-own Enel Green Power Australia, setting the stage for an even more powerful presence in Australia.
In late 2024, Potentia Energy was launched — a new name and brand that embodies the spirit of this dynamic Australian joint venture entity.

2017
Enel Green Power enters the Australian market
Acquisition of the 275 MW Bungala Solar Farm project, located close to Port Augusta in South Australia, and commencement of construction for the project.
2018
Award of VRET Support Agreement
The 34 MW Cohuna Solar Farm project, located close to Cohuna in Victoria, was awarded 15 year VRET (Victorian Renewables Energy Target) Support Agreement.
2021
Retail License secured
A Retail License was issued by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER ) for the National Electricity Market (NEM).
2022
Construction of first wind farm in Australia
Acquisition of the Flat Rocks Wind Farm Stage 1 project, located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, and commencement of construction for the project.
2023
Transition to Joint Venture Entity
The sale of 50% of Enel Green Power Australia to INPEX completed in September 2023. Enel Green Power Australia commences operating as a joint venture entity.
2024
Launch of Potentia Energy
A new name and brand that embodies the spirit of this dynamic local Australian joint venture entity is introduced to the market in December 2024.
