For the third consecutive year, we are proud to continue our partnership with Monash University, in support of its innovative and award-winning Green Steps program.

At the heart of the Program is a mission to deliver transformative and pragmatic sustainability training, coupled with consultancy projects tailored for ambitious, emerging leaders. This program aims to equip students with the indispensable skills, tools, and knowledge requisite for driving effective and sustainable change.

Practical sustainability training and experience
The program, which is facilitated by the Monash Sustainable Development Institute (MSDI), offers 30 fully funded places to Monash University students across all facilities and disciplines. It is run by a team of experts and educators and, during the program’s five days of training, students acquire practical skills and knowledge which they’re then able apply to an interdisciplinary team-based consultancy project.

This year, we had several representatives mentor teams of student groups for two consultancy projects. The student groups explored and then presented their innovative research and findings on the following project topics: “Potential co-use of land at large-scale solar power plants”, and “Community Benefit Sharing Initiatives for Large-scale renewable projects in Australia”.

A Collaborative Partnership
Togther with the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, we share a mission to build capacity and drive action to accelerate the energy transition in Australia and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) both locally and globally.

Werther Esposito, CEO of Enel Green Power Australia (now Potentia Energy) said “We’re incredibly proud of our multi-year partnership with MSDI for the transformative and educational Green Steps leadership program, designed to equip students with critical sustainability and leadership skills,” said Werther, adding “This is an ongoing collaboration with Monash University, a world leading institution bringing about sustainable and positive change through pioneering research, education and innovation.”

For the MSDI Program Manager Liz Bacchetti, this is an exciting collaboration that is building a strong pipeline of future sustainability leaders. “We’re thrilled to continue partnering with Enel Green Power Australia (now Potentia Energy) to deliver our award-winning Green Steps program. Our students are given a unique opportunity to learn directly from the company about their approach to addressing the UN SDGs and driving the global energy transition. The students gain valuable industry experience and insights that can be directly applied to their future careers.” said Liz.

“Sustainability is the foundation of our operations, creating shared value in the communities where we operate and integrating the UN SDGs into our business model. As a global leader in clean energy, we’re committed to sharing our leading global and local approach to sustainability and extensive industry knowledge to empower a new generation of leaders. We look forward to continuing this valuable partnership in 2024 and future years.” Said Werther.
